Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is an Amber Vanilla fragrance for women, launched in 2014. The creators, Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp, and Honorine Blanc, blended top notes of Pear, Pink Pepper, and Orange Blossom; middle notes of Coffee, Jasmine, Bitter Almond, and Licorice; and base notes of Vanilla, Patchouli, Cashmere Wood, and Cedar.
In September 2014, Yves Saint Laurent introduced Black Opium, a fragrance described as a rock'n'roll twist on the original, designed to showcase the dark, enigmatic side of the YSL brand. The scent, dominated by substantial coffee notes and complemented by pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, and cedar, was developed by master perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne, with Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc.
The perfume is presented in a bottle reminiscent of the last editions of the Opium collection, dark and adorned with sequins for a glam rock aesthetic.
British model Edie Campbell is the face of the perfume campaign, captured by photographer Daniel Wolfe.
